"Why Does a Chess Player Declare a Checkmate?"

When playing chess, one of the players would usually say "checkmate!" He usually says this when there is no way for the king's opponents to escape. When one of the players declares "checkmate," it means the game is over. Maybe you are wondering why they use the word "checkmate." Well, checkmate came from the Persian Phrase Shah Mat (the king is dead). That is why the opponent of the player who declares a checkmate automatically loses because his king was killed.
